My name is Ty Wang and welcome to Silicon to Carbon, my climate education journey. I am an engineer at heart who has spent the last 25 or so years in software and technology building new solutions to solve business problems in more efficient ways. I feel very fortunate to be able to take a step back from the daily grind to spend time educating myself on something of great meaning to the world and personal purpose: climate change.
To say the climate change learning curve is steep is an understatement. So much to learn. So many knowledgeable and inspiring people. So many problems and competing agendas. I started by reading books and articles, listening to podcasts, and watching YouTube videos of various production quality dating back to pre-HD days. In talking to people along the way who know tons more about this topic than me, it became apparent that there are quite a few people also looking to become more aware of climate change issues and what may be a good fit for their next purpose-driven personal or career adventure.
So with all this in mind, I am sharing my thoughts and notes along my own education journey. The real hope is to raise curiosity and inspire getting up the learning curve faster so more people will consider mobilizing into action. From silicon to carbon, let’s go.
